The PNN tool directly measures thermal neutrons to evaluate formation properties, offering improved accuracy over traditional gamma-based thermal decay tools. High neutron counts indicate low Sigma values, allowing better analysis in low-salinity and low-porosity environments such as zones with fresh water, oil, or gas. Less affected by neutron activation, the tool enables precise stop-check logging to reduce uncertainty. Paired with pnnPlus processing, it provides reliable behind-casing formation evaluation across a range of salinities.
